Sending a trading alert/signal from TradingView from a "Study"

Tradingview allows users to send webhook based alerts to any external system. Using Mudrex, you can now automate the alerts and send signals directly to an external signal-based strategy.

Follow this guide to set up your first TradingView strategy bot alerts.

Understanding the webhook message

The default way to send external signals to Mudrex is via webhooks. To send the message, you configure the URL and the message.

The URL to be used to make the webhook call is:

https://mudrex.com/api/v1/signals

A sample of how the message looks is:

{
"id":"3378d3fa-e656-4251-b473-5b1f98021fe3",
"action": "long_entry",
"stop_loss_exact_price": {{low}},
"take_profit_exact_price": {{high}}
}

Note: One of the most common mistakes is to not add quotes (i.e. sending id instead of "id"). Pls make sure that this is added.

Check out this link to get to know the specifics of the webhook message.

Setting up alerts using the TradingView alert dialog

To set up an alert you need to click on the 'Alert' icon. This icon shows up in multiple places. Here is how it shows up in the top panel

On clicking the add alert icon, a dialog box will open up. In the Dialog box make sure that you set the webhook URL and the alert message correctly.

Go live!

Once you create an alert and save it, Mudrex will be ready and waiting for the alert to come in. You can now either let the alerts accumulate or start a paper/live run.

Note:

1. You will need a TradingView Pro subscription to receive the alerts. In case you are not wanting to pay you can always build the strategy on Mudrex using the visual strategy builder.

2. Errors with swing trade signals.

If you have Exit Long and Entry Short at the same time, TV sometimes will not send one of these signals. Solution: Set separate alerts for your long position and short position or use 'Reverse Long to Short' action

3. Error with a log of alerts.

Sometimes TV will not show the alert in the log file on TV, however, if you open the script on the graph you would be able to see this signal. Thus, it may appear that Mudrex would open a position whereas TV does not show it in the log.
